Students are required to read daily at home, at least for 30 minutes; and to maintain a Reading Log. Students will check out the books from the school library, and they will respond to a test about the book in the computer. It is mandatory to read one book per week. Throughout the school year, the students will read the following books in class: Planet Middle School, The Power of Un, and Bully Book. If the child misses the material for whatever reason, it is his/her responsibility to study on his/her own time. If a test is missed, student must arrange with teacher to make it up. This is the student responsibility. Request for make-ups must be made within a week from date test. There is NOT extra credit at the end of the semester. All projects can be turn in before time, NEVER after the due date.
Homework: Students must do homework EVERYDAY. They must read for 30 minutes, complete their Reading log, and work on the Reading Plus computer program. The teacher will reward students who, systematically, works in the program. Parents must sign the Reading Log, confirming the child did read at home. Projects and online reading programs will be assigned for homework as well. Failure to complete homework will affect the effort grade.
Attendance: Students must come to school every day. If you are absent, be sure you have an excuse note upon your return.
